At the Pointe, we embrace the presence of the Lord and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, ensuring a balanced practice. If it aligns with the Bible, it is considered balanced. The Bible mentions at least 19 spiritual gifts. Our definitions are Scripturally grounded and recognized by thousands of churches globally. Ephesians 4:11 enumerates five gifts: Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, and Teacher. These are distinct governing ministry gifts bestowed upon individuals called to leadership roles in both the global and local church. There are three scriptural compilations of the “gifts of the Spirit,” or spiritual gifts: Romans 12:6–8; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11; and 1 Corinthians 12:28. Ephesians 4:11 could be included as well, but it primarily lists church offices rather than spiritual gifts. The spiritual gifts listed in Romans 12 include prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leadership, and mercy. The gifts in 1 Corinthians 12:4–11 encompass the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues, and interpretation of tongues. The gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:28 are healings, helps, administrations, and various kinds of tongues. We invite you to discover your spiritual gifts by taking a profile assessment available here.
At the Pointe, we deeply value God’s Word. Which version should you read? The one you’ll consistently engage with! Pastor Ed at the Pointe teaches from the New King James Version (Word for Word) and the New Living Translation (Thought for Thought), occasionally referencing the NIV (New International Version). Pastor Ed’s ultimate goal in teaching is to guide everyone within his reach towards Christian maturity and an understanding of how the Kingdom of God and its orderly operation are relevant today. The scriptures say, “when the Gospel of the Kingdom is preached throughout the world…” We are called to live a vibrant, impactful life now, not just to “get saved” as a ticket to heaven. There are divine assignments to discover and opportunities to seize! Signs of maturity in a Christian include faith, goodness, knowledge of God from His Word, self-control, perseverance in adversity, godliness (emulating Christ), mutual affection for fellow believers and the local church, and striving to love and serve others (both Christians and non-Christians) well, as outlined in 1 Corinthians 13. Noticeably, Pastor Ed doesn’t always conclude services with an “altar call”; instead, he often imparts a traditional blessing from Numbers 6:22-26.
