Discovery

If you’re new to the Pointe, we invite you to Discovery. Every journey begins with a first step. You took yours by attending the Pointe Church as our guest, or by checking out our website. If you attended a service we hope the service touched your soul and that your family loved the experience. You might have guessed we have a passion for Jesus. If you like what you experienced today, consider taking a few, simple next steps, each designed to help us become better acquainted.  Each Discovery video is only 7-11 minutes, and by watching, it will help you understand the biblical ideas we value.

At the Pointe, we warmly welcome the presence of the Lord, and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, when exercied in a balanced approach.  If it’s Biblical, it’s balanced. There are at least 19 spiritual gifts found in the Bible. Our trusted definitions are Scripturally based and used by thousands of churches worldwide.  Ephesians 4:11 lists 5 gifts which are Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher. These 5 are unique – they are governing ministry gifts given to people who are called to ministry leadership within the global and local church.  There are actually three biblical lists of the “gifts of the Spirit,” also known as spiritual gifts:  Romans 12:6–81 Corinthians 12:4–11; and 1 Corinthians 12:28. We could also include Ephesians 4:11, but that is a list of offices within the church, not spiritual gifts, per se. The spiritual gifts identified in Romans 12 are prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leadership, and mercy. The list in 1 Corinthians 12:4–11 includes the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, distinguishing between spirits, speaking in tongues and interpretation of tongues. The list in 1 Corinthians 12:28 includes healings, helps, governments, diversities of tonguesWe also encourage you to take a spiritual gifts profile by clicking here.   A comprehensive list of all gifts can be found by clicking here.

At the Pointe, we highly celebrate God’s Word.  What version should you be reading?  The one you will read consistently!  At the Pointe, Pastor Ed teaches from the New King James version (Word for Word), and the New Living translation (Thought for Thought), and will occassionally reference the NIV (New International Version).  The endgame of teaching from Pastor Ed is to help all those under the sound of his voice to move into Christian maturity, as well as understanding how the Kingdom of God, and the orderly operation of the Kingdom, applies to the here and now.  The scriptures tell us, “when the Gospel of the Kingdom is preached into all the world…”  We can live an exciting, impacting life here and now!  We are not meant to just “get saved,” just to get a ticket into heaven.  There are assignments from the Lord to Discover, and there are doors of opportunity to embrace and walk through!  What are signs of maturity in a Christian?  Faith, goodness, knowledge of God from His Word, self-control, perseverance through hardships, godliness (imitating Christ), mutual affection for other believers and for the local assembly, doing our best to love and serve other people (both Christians and non-Christians) well according to 1 Corinthians 13.  You’ll notice Pastor Ed does not alway engage in an “alter call” at the end of the service, but rather ends with a traditional blessing, found in Numbers  6:22-26.
